Peugeot 207 Epure

Peugeot 207 Epure The Peugeot 207 EPure is a convertible concept hydrogen fuel cell car that was unveiled in 2006 at the Mondial de l\'Automobile 2006 (Paris Motor Show). The Peugeot 207 EPure is a collaboration between Peugeot, Citroen and the Atomic Energy Commission in France. Besides improving the efficiency of internal combustion engines (especially those of the HDi engines) Peugeot also does research on the "zero-emission" technology. The following is a technical story

Peugeot 207 Epure

Peugeot 207 Epure The 207 Epure is the first conceptcar which is equipped with the fuel cell GENEPAC. In order to operate a fuel cell hydrogen and oxygen. The oxygen is in the air and the hydrogen is stored in a tank. By combining hydrogen and oxygen is a chemical reaction to ensuring a transfer of electrons and protons which heat, water and especially electricity arises. For the 207 Epure, as in previous concept cars for a fuel cell as an energy source (larger radius). This ensures the supply of the electric motor and also to help the batteries to recharge. The fuel cell used in this prototype is used, the GENEPAC 20, a fuel cell GENEPAC with a power of 20 kW. The GENEPAC 20 consists of two modules, each with a group of plates and electrodes. This fuel cell delivers a yield of more than 50% compared with approximately 25 to 30% for a combustion engine. The 5 tanks together containing 3 kg of hydrogen at a pressure of 700 bar. They feed an electric motor and charging the lithium battery on the car is a large action radius. The tanks are fitted in the luggage compartment, leaving plenty of room left for the rear seats and wegklappen of the roof. This remains an acceptable amount of luggage. With an electric motor uses only 207 Epure energy and drive and is on the brake on the engine just energy generated. In addition, the car very quiet, which of course has to a cabriolet and in urban areas is an important characteristic. The 207 Epure a sufficiently large range (approximately 350 km) and the car delivers excellent performance from a top of 130 km / h.

Peugeot 207 Epure Now, imagine yourself showing off your pearly whites in this pearl white convertible, with white leather interior, wind blowing through your hair as you accelerate down the highway of life. The car is not a speedster as it will only accelerate from 0 - 60 mph in about 15 seconds, but the air left behind will be clean as the Genepac 20 kw fuel cell only puts out a little steam in this zero emissions vehicle. The fuel cell serves to power the electric motor directly and recharge the batteries. It is made from thinly stamped stainless steel plates in two modules, which greatly reduce the price compared to other PEM fuel cells. The Peugeot 207 EPure is truly a green vehicle as the carpeting and accents are accentuated in color of absinthe. If you look inside the trunk, you'll find five 15-liter 10,000 psi compressed hydrogen cylinders lined up, ready for refueling.
